God Is at Work Worldwide—Even Here
God Is Not Geographically Limited
I love to remind people that God is not just working on the other side of the world. We can get the mentality that, “Oh, God’s working over there but he’s no longer working over here.” And God is working in powerful ways across North Africa, or in China, or Central Asia, or other parts of the world, but he is also working right here in this country, in our context.
God is powerfully at work in the hearts of his people all over the world, including right here at home.
I think of my pastor, Danny. Recently, he pastored a 1,200-member church. At the age of fifty, with two kids in college and two in high school, he and his family packed up and left the church and went to the heart of Mormon country—to the Salt Lake Valley—to plant a church. And the driving force was years of his preaching the gospel and preaching going to the nations. And as he’s preaching to us, he’s preaching to himself. We didn’t know, but God was working in his heart all of those years. And he walked the talk and ultimately got to the point where he was just like, “I need to go.”
A Company of Heroes
Tim Keesee
This book, written by a missions journalist as he traveled throughout 20 different countries, highlights the lives of Christians past and present whose examples of endurance, courage, sacrifice, and humility will connect readers with God’s unstoppable work across the world.
As Jesus said in John 10, “I have other sheep who are not of this fold, I must bring them also.” So God’s positioned my friend and pastor to go and take good news to the people in Salt Lake Valley.
This is just one more encouragement that God is powerfully at work in the hearts of his people all over the world, including right here at home.
