Kids Bible Reading Plans

Start Kids Early
It’s never too early to give children help in learning how to navigate the Bible. In the foreword to Exploring the Bible: A Bible Reading Plan for Kids by David Murray, Donald Whitney says, “I didn’t know it at the time, but one of the greatest blessings in my life was being trained at a very early age to read the Bible every day.”
With a little intentionality, adults can help build a foundation of biblical literacy in children from an early age. Whitney goes on to say, “Without guidance and a plan, children will flounder when trying to read and understand the Bible on their own.”
Two Reading Plans
Help children establish a daily habit of reading with these two Scripture reading plans adapted from the ESV Kid's Thinline Bible. The first plan, Through the Bible in 20 Days, is intended to be a child's first exposure to regular Bible reading and is ideal for ages 8–10. The second plan, Through the Bible in 60 Days, is designed to be a child’s second exposure to regular Bible reading and is geared toward ages 11–13. A few of the foundational chapters in the Old Testament are repeated in this plan, but most of the readings are new and build on the 20-day reading plan.
