The Bible’s Grand Narrative: A 1-Month Reading Plan
This article is part of the ESV.org Reading Plans series.
One Author, One Story
Though the Bible compiles the voices and writings of many individuals, it is, in fact, one story—written by God. Through the historical accounts in the Old Testament to the miracles and parables recorded in the New Testament, from Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells this one story.
The introduction of the ESV New Christian’s Bible says that the message of the Bible is that:
We are sinners, enslaved to selfishness. But God sent his Son to take the punishment we deserve so that we can be restored to a right relationship with our Creator.
