The One Word That Explains the Whole Message of the Bible

The Bible Is Not about You

When we're thinking about the whole message of the Bible, we should start with God. God is the central character in the Bible. I don't know if you know this, but the Bible is not ultimately about you—the Bible is about God. A God who created all things, a God who has eternally existed before creation, and who made all things for his glory.

We need to think about the Bible as ultimately a book that points us to the God who made us, the God who invites us to worship him, the God who invites us to be satisfied in him alone. The unfolding message of the Bible is really a message about God's work to save his people for his glory. It's a message about God's character as a holy, righteous judge. It's about God's grace toward sinners who turn their back on him. But he continually cares for us, he's patient with us, he sent his son to save us.

The Whole Message of the Bible in 16 Words

Chris Bruno

This accessible overview of biblical theology traces the development of sixteen key themes from Genesis to Revelation, showing how each theme contributes to the one main storyline of Scripture.

So you can't understand the message of the Bible without understanding who God is, what he has done for us, and what he will do for us one day. We have to start with God as the centerpiece of the Scriptures.
