Why Sexual Ethics Matter
We Are Members of His Body
Sexual ethics, and a high standard of sexual integrity, are so vital. It is vital because it isn't just a petty taboo.
1 Corinthians 6 is a theology of the human body. It is gospel reasoning in favor of high standards of sexual integrity. The reason Christians need to be very careful with sexual behavior and follow God's path scrupulously is not because sex is icky, but instead because the risen Christ inhabits our very bodies.
Take a look at 1 Corinthians 6. It is borderline embarrassing! It is saying that the risen Christ inhabits our very sexuality. The reason we want to obey the Lord with our sexuality is not that he is far removed from it, but rather because he is so intimately involved with all that we are.
