Why You Should Study God's Incommunicable Attributes
Readjusting Our Focus
God’s incommunicable attributes are important for us to understand because they’re the ones that tell us how God is not like us. And we are prone to design God after our own image when left to our own devices. So the more time that we can spend readjusting our focus and learning to say, "No, this is the way that only God is; only God holds all knowledge," the better.
How does that then impact the way that I view the world and the way I live my life? Only God is self-sufficient. He is the only one who has no needs. I have needs; not only do I have them, I have a lot of them and they’re not all the result of sin. I think we tend to think of our needs as being a result of sin, but, if you think about the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had needs.

We were created to need. Until we can see ourselves in relation to a God who is not like us, it’s hard to align ourselves properly to say, "Ok, I’m not like him in this way, but I can become like him in other ways. I can take on his mercy or his grace."
Until we have had a vision of him high and lifted up, we won’t rightly understand how it is that we can be conformed to his image and stay within the good limits that have been placed on us as created beings.
