Nancy Guthrie Provides 365 Daily Bible Reading Introductions That Equip Readers to Understand Each Day’s Passage and What It Uniquely Reveals About Christ
Each book of the Bible is a chance to encounter Jesus, and every day of the year is an opportunity to seek him more deeply. In Beholding Christ, Bible teacher and bestselling author Nancy Guthrie offers 365 daily Bible reading introductions that provide background, context, and perspective to guide the reader into greater understanding of each day’s text as well as insight on how the passage uniquely reveals the person and work of Christ.
Drawing upon Guthrie's years of experience as a Bible teacher and her passion for seeing Christ in all the scriptures, each day’s reading begins with a statement about Christ that arises from the text, though it may not be immediately on the surface. In the reading introduction, she explains unfamiliar characters, events, and cultural realities; draws out biblical-theological themes; and emphasizes how the chapters fit into the bigger story of redemptive history. She then lists key words and ideas to look for as you read, as well as encouragement in how to respond in prayer, personal examination, meditation, and worship.
While Beholding Christ: A Daily Guide to Seeing Jesus in All of Scripture is designed to be a companion to whatever Bible you use, the ESV Beholding Christ Bible, which includes these instructive readings interspersed within the full ESV text, is also available. Beholding Christ will help you persevere in reading through the Bible in its entirety with a better understanding of what you’re reading and with a greater focus on how it reveals the beauty, necessity, and sufficiency of Christ.

Author:
Nancy Guthrie (MATS Reformed Theological Seminary) teaches the Bible at her home church, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Franklin, Tennessee, as well as at conferences around the country and internationally, including her Biblical Theology Workshop for Women. She is the author of numerous books and the host of the Help Me Teach the Bible podcast with the Gospel Coalition. She and her husband founded Respite Retreats for couples who have faced the death of a child, and they are cohosts of the GriefShare video series.
